About Denise

Welcome!  I’m so glad you’re here. Since you clicked on “About Me”, let me share a little bit about myself and why I started this blogging journey.

I’m a wife to my supportive and loving husband, and a mother to 3 incredible kids who make me extremely proud and drive me absolutely crazy. I am a former second grade teacher and now work part-time doing intervention with groups of students in grades K-5.  My youngest daughter, currently a freshman in high school, is part of the reason I started this blog.  Ava is learning disabled. Her educational journey has been one full of many accomplishments but also significant challenges that we have worked together to overcome.  She has really struggled with math through the years.

I am lucky to have a master’s degree in educational technology and I put that degree to use as I navigated Ava’s educational needs. Each time a new concept was being taught or Ava was preparing for a test, I would try to come up with ways to keep her interested and make her learning more meaningful. I consistently turned to technology for that support. I would make games, videos, and activities with lots of visuals to support her learning. When schools closed last spring, many of the teachers I work with reached out to me for help in setting up their online learning environments.

The feedback I received was incredible. So many of these teachers said the resources I shared with them were better than many of the activities and programs they use in their classrooms. They asked for more and I made more. I never realized that all the materials I created to support my daughter’s learning, and the ideas I used to create them, could be something other teachers would have a need for. And that these resources could be used for all students, not just students who struggle. I decided to share these resources on Teachers Pay Teachers.

It is so rewarding to see teachers use my ideas in their classrooms.  I focus on creating digital resources that can be used for online learning, in-class learning, or in the flipped classroom.  My goal is to provide products and ideas that will enhance your curriculum, engage your students, and grow your passion for education.
